Swim Across America is raising money for the City of Hope Cancer Hospital and Research Center in Duarte, California in a new project with the International Swimming Hall of Fame and the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.

Three teams of six swimmers will take off from Santa Catalina Island and swim in one-hour legs for 20.2 miles until they reach the Southern California mainland. Conducted under the auspices of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation, the swimmers are required to raise at least US$5,000 for Swim Across America.

Registration is due by April 15th for the July 20th crossing.

International Swimming Hall of Fame inductee David Yudovin explains, “It is an opportunity to enjoy swimming in the Catalina Channel as well as an opportunity for swimmers considering a channel swim to experience it under the guidance of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation as well as very experienced support crew.

We will be piloted by Greg Elliott‘s Bottom Scratcher with all proceeds to City of Hope.”
