Arleen Gonzalez Perez of Mexico City completed a circumnavigation of Manhattan in 8 hours 16 minutes at the 45.8 km 20 Bridges Circumnavigation Swim of Manhattan on October 1st.

This was her second circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, the first coming in 2015.

Her goal was to complete all legs of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming in one season and to become the first Mexican woman to accomplish this difficult feat. She did, repeating the feat of Antonio Argüelles and Miguel Campero, two other Mexican swimmers who previously completed the Triple Crown within one season.

This summer season, Gonzalez completed her Catalina Channel crossing on June 12th in 12 hours 48 minutes, her English Channel crossing on August 25th in 14 hours 43 minutes, and her Manhattan Island circumnavigation on October 1st in 8 hours 16 minutes.
