Karlyn Pipes of Aquatic Edge gives her monthly one-minute tip:

Use your core to help you swim faster. Imagine a zipper running through the middle of your body from your lower abs up to your chest. Swim at a moderate pace and think “lazy gut.” Then as a contrast drill…think “Zip it up!” Take notice of the difference in time and effort.

Pipes is widely considered to be the greatest masters pool swimmer in history and has won dozens of open water swims over her lengthy career.
