Several nations (e.g., USA, Hungary, Brazil, Tunisia, Japan, China, Switzerland) used KAATSU equipment in the preparation of, and recovery from, their competitions at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as well as in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

The athletes not only included competitive swimmers, open water swimmers, triathletes, and water polo players, but also basketball players, rowers, judoku, runners (both sprinters and marathoners), skiers, and jumpers.

Dr. James Stray-Gundersen of the United States Ski & Snowboard Association explains the local and systemic mechanisms of KAATSU training and recovery that is used by elite professional athletes and non-athletes alike, by young and older individuals, by injured and healthy athletes, by masters swimmers and open water swimmers.
