In 1970, Captain Arthur envisioned lifelong fitness and lifestyle benefits for adults through aquatic training and competition.
“I remember watching her keep up with all the top men in the Waikiki Roughwater Swim in the mid-1980s when she was just a high school student. She had fiery competitive spirit in the ocean that was balanced by a bright smile on land,” recalls Steven Munatones. “With all her years committed to masters swimming, it was a given that she would eventually be honored with this most prestigious award by her peers.”
