The history of competitive open water swimming in Ireland is coming up on its centennial anniversary with this summer’s 98th Dublin City Liffey Swim and the 87th Dún Laoghaire Harbour Race.

The events are hosted by Leinster Open Sea, a non-profit organisation that works with swimming clubs to establish a summer season of sea races in a variety of locations along the Leinster. “We cater for all ages and abilities from teenagers to senior citizens and from novice swimmers to former internationals. Swim races are held every weekend with an average distance of 1 mile.”
