Seti Afoa of Samoa Events awarded each of the finishers with Savai’i citizenship that was presented by the Minister for Education Sports and Culture, the Honorable Loau Solamalemalo Keneti Sio. The swimmers also received a Savai’i passport from the Savai’i Tourism Association that included free accommodation and other offers for their return to the island.
The swim is the opening event of the Savai’i Games that includes a 180 km Ride around the Island, a Surf Carnival, and the Savai’i Marathon.
