A lot is at stake and up for discussion, both in the short term and long term, both domestically and globally, when American President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron meet this week in Paris.

The fierce competition between Los Angeles and Paris continues as both cities are focused on winning the 2024 Summer Olympic Games bid – currently one issue where President Macron is reportedly favored (although Los Angeles would receive the 2028 Summer Olympics as a result).

In September, the aquatic world will learn if the 50 Olympic marathon swimmers will swim 10 km in the Seine in Paris or compete in a man-made canal in Long Beach, California in July 2024.
