In addition to their triathlon careers, they got together to create The Big Swim Dubai.
The trio will attempt to swim a total of 85 km along the entire Dubai coastline that will include swimming around the perimeter of the landmark Palm Jumeirah, an artificial archipelago and the world’s largest man-made island located in United Arab Emirates.
They will swim in stages of various lengths over successive weekends throughout this coming October and November.
Depending on the conditions and the stretch of coastline being covered, each swim will last between 10 and 20 km and is expected to take between 3 and 6 hours.
They explained their personal and environmental goals for The Big Swim Dubai, “We are excited about a personal challenge. However, there are greater motivations, helping to dramatically reduce single-use plastic consumption which can be harmful for the waters in the UAE.“
They want people to not use plastic water bottles, but instead filter and bottle their own water that can be used anywhere and everywhere.
They have generated an excellent level of corporate support including from Nakheel (for beach access and logistics), PURE Sports Nutrition, Rocket Pro UAE (Bespoke Kit), Ecoventure (equipment and logistics), Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, Urban Swim Academy, Engage ME (website photography), Velo Presto (logistics support), Honeywell(paramedic Sponsor), and Engage ME.
