While James Loreto has trained hard, traveling from Maryland to Ireland in order to take part in the last two Cork Distance Weeks.

Cork Distance Week coach Ned Denison recalled Loreto’s participation, “Jim watched his swimming mates get their names on the towel and get crowned at the Triple Crown Dinner.”

That 8-day training-camp-for-the-hardened seemed to be just the motivation he needed to achieve the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimmin. Today, the former U.S. Naval Academy officer also became a Triple Crowner after finishing a crossing of the English Channel in 14 hours 35 minutes.
