Two weeks ago, Dean Summers and ‎Timmy Garrett‎ were hit by a 45-foot boat while swimming at Coogee [New South Wales] in their native Australia.

But they both bounced back and completed a crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar yesterday in in 6 hours 3 minutes.

The swim was Summer’s fifth Oceans Seven crossing.

Garrett wrote, “We would like to thank Vlad Mravec, Martin and Jai; our coaches, the best in Sydney for endurance swimming, technique, ocean and pool. Thanks to all the Vlad swimmers that we train with. It’s good to acknowledge the people who help and support us whether you know it or not.”

Summers added, “There was a tough current that I hadn’t expected and we just slipped in the landing zone. Laura and her team were fantastic.”
