A large pod of orcas, up to 40 killer whales, were roaming the coastline in Southern California last week.
A pod of 30 orcas were cruising off of Long Beach twice last week. “We were just completely surrounded. There were so many it was hard to get a good count. It was incredible.
I’ve never seen so many orcas before,” observed Kera Methes, a whale research biologist for the Aquarium of the Pacific. “We don’t really know where they go or where they come from.”
