The design of the poster of the Descenso a Nado de la Ría de Navia is clever and historical.

The poster incorporates the signatures of the 54 previous winners including 11-time winner and International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honour Swimmer David Meca as well as the two Spanish representatives at the 2012 Olympic marathon swim, Francisco Kiko Hervás and Erika Villaécija García.

Winners also include 2008 Olympic marathon swimming bronze medalist Cassie Patten. But tomorrow, the future may be told as 18-year-old up-and-coming Anna Olasz of Hungary will participate. Olasz is one of the pre-race favorites in the Asturias Cup on Saturday and the Descenso a Nado de la Ría de Navia on Sunday. Olasz just missed out on qualifying for the 2012 Olympic marathon swim when she was touched-out by Eva Risztov at the Olympic qualification race a few months ago.

At tonight’s opening ceremonies, Hervás and Villaécija will give interviews from the Olympic Village that will be broadcast to their old friends in Navia.
