One year ago at this time, Gordon Gridley was swimming in the middle of the English Channel. And now the Utah swimmer is on the other side of the world.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my Channelversary than to be doing another big swim of similar significance in just a few days,” explains Gridley.

The day is closely approaching and I will soon be jumping into those dark life-filled waters of the Catalina Channel. My goal is to arrive from Catalina to Long Beach in 12 hours or less.”

Long Beach is a long way off the traditional and shortest path of Catalina Channel swimmers. Sort of like swimming to Waikiki while doing the Molokai Channel.

You can follow Gridley vis his Spot GPS beginning 11 pm local time on August 13th.
