Cork Lions Club and University College Cork, in association with the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame and the World Open Water Swimming Association, will present the 2013 Global Open Water Swimming Conference in Ireland on October 11th – 13th.
“Every year the Conference keeps growing in parallel with the explosive growth worldwide,” says Steven Munatones. “In the hotbed of open water swimming, the Irish will undoubtedly host a grand celebration of the sport.
The conference will address topics of environmental, scientific, and sporting relevance to the open water swimming community as well as reports and presentations from well-known and not-so-well-known athletes at the Rochestown Park Hotel in Cork.
Sally Minty-Gravett, President of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club will present ‘Sink or Swim’ at the Conference. “It’s about her growing group of young open water swimmers on Jersey Island,” explains host organiser Oswald Schmidt. “She’s been consistently encouraging her swimming pupils to take to the sea and the fruits of her labour are beginning to turn them into around Jersey relay swimmers.”
The legacy is established; her authority is acknowledged; her passion is unsurpassed. Come to meet and hear the Jersey legend in Cork.
