Your legs go up and down and sometimes cross over. Your arms go round and round, half the time below your prone body and half the time above. Your neck goes side to side, and sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right, but occasionally straining upwards. You point your toes, but the plane of your hands constantly changes.

Is it any wonder that swimming freestyle efficiently takes so much time and effort to master?
