Tears of joy and heartfelt appreciation sparkled in the eyes of Elizabeth Fry when she was honored in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame induction ceremonies today on the Isle of Bute in Scotland.
Smiles and cheers from the knowledgeable crowd followed. It was a day of celebration and recognition for the young woman who really got started on her remarkable marathon swimming career in her 40s.
“I am having too much fun and enjoying it too much to stop,” said the famed Connecticut channel swimmer and Swim Across the Sound race director. “I have so many swims planned for the future.”
