Ivan Abreu from Funchal in Madeira, Portugal organizes the first Reportagem Madeira Island International Swim Marathon, an event on Madeira Island, a Portuguese archipelago located in the north Atlantic Ocean.

400 kilometers north of Tenerife, Canary Islands, Abreu attracted some of the fastest European swimmers to the event including Andreas Waschburger, Damien Cattin Vidal, Axel Reymond, Romain Beraud, and Jack Burnell for the inaugural race.

This was our first year of this event with over 200 swimmers participating in 4 distances: 300m for kids, the popular 1.5 km race, a 5 km and a 10 km marathon swim.

Jack Burnell finished first over Andreas Waschburger and Axel Reymond.”
