The body of missing swimmer Tristan Dennis was finally found floating in the water and has been recovered in Pietermaritzburg’s Midmar Dam.

Divers from the South African Police Services located the body early on Tuesday morning, after which it was positively identified as 30-year-old Tristan Dennis who disappeared while taking part in the aQuellé Midmar Mile corporate relay on Saturday, February 7th.

His family was immediately notified and made their way to the scene.

The South African Police Services Search and Rescue and K9 teams under Lt Jack Haskins, the divers from the South African Police Services and the Navy, took part in the search for the Durban, South African swimmer.

After nearly four decades of a flawless safety record, tragedy has sadly struck the aQuellé Midmar Mile three times in recent years: 45-year-old Nico Mellet in 2011, 43-year-old Herman “Thabo” van Straten in 2014, and Tristan Dennis this year in the famed South African race.
