While Adrianna Bridi comfortably won the 10 km La Patagones Viedma, the first race in the 2017 FINA/HOSA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup series, the race for second was literally too close to call. Rachele Bruni (silver medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympic 10K Marathon Swim) and Poliana Okimoto Cintra (bronze medalist) tied in 2 hours 12 minutes 13.54 seconds [shown above].

FINA also paired up with the local organizers in Argentina to host four additional races at the opening stage of the 2017 FINA/HOSA 10km Marathon Swimming World Cup as part of the FINA Open Water Mass Swimming World Series.

The professionals competed in a 1.6 km sprint race two days before while hundreds of younger and older swimmers took part in the 600m El Cruce Del Rio bank-to-bank river race, the 20m – 50m Iron Kids races for 5 to 10 year olds, and La Puente a Puente, a 3.8 km bridge to bridge race for swimmers over 13 years old.
