Race director Ron Collins reported:
“They started at 6:31 am and [39-year-old older brother] Joe finished at 6:29 pm and [35-year-old younger brother] John at 6:35 pm. The water temperature was 79°F (26°C) at the start, and was about 84°F (29°C) when they finished their swim. They swam in a tandem formation for the first 23 miles of the 24-mile marathon swim.
There winds were East @ 12 knots in the morning and North @ 8 knots in the afternoon.”
