Cameron Castro vs. Jude Williams Rivalry Continues In Huntington Beach
Courtesy of Mackenzie Miller, Huntington Beach, California. The Huntington Beach Pier Swim is one of the longest continuously running ocean swims in the United States with 69 annual editions conducted around the pier at Huntington Beach in Southern California. Channel swimmer Mackenzie Miller reported on yesterday’s fast race around the long concrete pier that was held in very low tides in the 64°F water of the Pacific Ocean.  “14-year-old Vanessa Bartlett was the fastest local swimmer in 13:05.  Huntington Beach water polo player Logan Garwick was the fastest local boy in 10:32.” There is a very competitive rivalry between 18-year-old Cameron Castro from Long Beach and 17-year-old Jude Williams from Mentone.  Last year, Williams beat Castro to win the 68th annual race, but Castro had the better of Williams this year with a fast run in and an excellent onshore beach finish.
