While the pool swimmers will compete in the Olympic finals in the mid-morning hours during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games so the American television audience will watch the Olympic swim finals live in prime time, the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim finalists will swim even earlier in the morning. The Olympic marathon swimmers may have to compete as early as 5 am in Odaiba Marine Park in Tokyo Bay according to early estimates and the anticipated head and humidity expected during the Tokyo Olympics.

Of course, all these problems with the heat and water quality can be solved. The heat means that is a good chance for the water in Odaiba Marine Park to be near or above 31°C. Additionally, there is a very high probability that Tokyo Bay will have the poorest water quality of any Olympics or World Championships or any FINA international competition to dated,” repeated Steven Munatones. “But since FINA and the IOC have decided that the venue cannot and will not be moved from Odaiba Marine Park – where the local media and populace have described the water as ‘unchi-mizu’ (or turd water in English) – the athletes are preparing for the hottest and dirtiest water on record in the biggest competition of their lives.”

Olympic medalist favorites Jordan Wilimovsky and Haley Anderson will be at the 2019 WOWSA Ocean Fest in Redondo Beach, California on October 5th – 6th.
