Six Swim Across America relay team members successfully completed a circumnavigation of Catalina Island this morning, raising over US$60,000 for cancer research and cutting-edge clinical trials. The funds will go towards a Young Investigator Grant through Swim Across America and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

The 48-mile swim took the Catalina Cancer Crushers Relay 27 hours 46 minutes 6 seconds swimming in the clockwise direction, ultimately becoming the 11th team to complete a circumnavigation swim around Catalina Island.

The team members included Scott Beeber, Josh Fromson, Matt Jennings, Erik King, team captain Jackie NeJaime, and Gary Workman with the help of Coordinator Dan Simonelli, Henie Brandol, Kristine Croft, Megan Melgaard, and escort kayakers Guy Morgan and Dawn Niday.
